Overpopulation

Gather scholarly peer-reviewed resources on how environmental ethics interplays with policy and management relating to this issue.

You will present that topic within the context of five worldview arguments in environmental ethics (please limit to five).

Early in the paper, after your opening section with the thesis statement and supporting points, develop and present a visual that offers critical support for the analysis, e.g., compare each world view to particular aspects of the selected issue such as who/what has intrinsic value according to that worldview argument, who/what has instrumental value, what is the role of humans, what are the strengths and shortcomings of the worldview argument, an application of the issue somewhere in time or across the globe. As an example, you may include a table with five columns (one for each worldview argument you are reviewing) and rows with those components from the example above (e.g., thoughts on intrinsic value, role of humans, etc.). Or, you may decide that a Venn diagram would work best for your comparison. Or, perhaps you have another idea of how best to visualize the comparison across the selected worldview arguments specific to the environmental issue of focus. This visual should be formatted in APA style, it should be mentioned in the text and explained to the reader, referring the reader to the visual (e.g., Table 1). Be sure you review proper formatting for visuals. Further, consider the role of each worldview argument to environmental ethics in society today. For example, identify situations/examples/policies where each has been implemented related to the selected environmental issue. Perhaps the last row in your comparative table is a case study that you will detail in the paper according to each worldview argument covered.

Your comparative paper will explain the similarities and differences among these worldview arguments specifically relevant to the selected environmental issue. Do not paint the descriptions in broad sweeps, but rather very specifically focus on the environmental issue selected. The field of environmental ethics is too broad to cover all of these topics across so many worldview arguments. Narrow your analysis specifically to the selected environmental issue and to five worldview arguments. The more narrow your topic, the more likely you are to build a solid, scholarly, and complex comparative analysis.

At the very start of your writing, be sure that you develop a suitable thesis statement and organize the essay to present a coherent and scholarly analysis. Your paper must clearly demonstrate your mastery of advanced concepts in environmental ethics. At a minimum, you are expected to include the visual, a paper no more than five pages of text (i.e., not including the title page, visual, or references), and a references section properly formatted in APA style. The paper must include proper parenthetical citation to credit all sources of information, and sources should be thoroughly vetted and appropriate for a professional audience. Do not present in first person. Be scientific and objective. Leave personal bias out of the comparative analysis.
