What is one way the Aztecs dealt with artifacts older than their culture that is similar to how we deal with ours?
As we have seen throughout this term, Western art has undergone several cycles of change. Sometimes it looks back to a particular reference point, and sometimes it reacts to a previous aesthetic and thematic canon. As society and technology rapidly transform, so does art. In the period between 1800 and 2000, we have seen a much more accelerated pace of change. One example is the shift from a more naturalistic representation to a more abstract and conceptual idea.
