Consider how a police community engagement officer might convey their agency’s approach to ethical conduct using the theories you learned this week.
Watch “Police Chief Perspectives: Community Policing” from the University Library. This video explains how and why law enforcement communicates their processes to their communities. Reflect on how virtue ethics and stoic ethics might impact police and community collaboration.
• Define virtue ethics and stoic ethics in your own words. Support your response with relevant details or examples.
• How might virtue ethics apply to community policing duties and procedures? Provide specific details or examples to support your response.
• How might stoic ethics apply to community policing duties and procedures? Provide specific details or examples to support your response.
• Most modern philosophers believe that stoic ethics does not align with the values of a modern society (Banks, 2020, p. 825). Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not?
