In this module, we have discussed different forms of communication and how they vary, based on the number of participants, channels used, and contexts. In this situational analysis, you will consider which forms of communication to use when preparing for a graduation speech, by considering the level of intentionality, goals, and contexts of each form.

Here is the situation: Johanna was assigned to give her graduation speech. She is apprehensive about public speaking; therefore, she has decided to prepare for the speech beforehand to give a solid performance. 

Answer the following in 300-350 words:

Which forms of communication discussed in this module would you recommend Johanna use in preparation for her graduation speech?  Select all that may apply and explain your choice(s).

  1. Intrapersonal Communication: Johanna decides to practice her speech in front of a mirror by talking to herself.
    1. Interpersonal Communication: Johanna decides to call her mom and practice the speech in front of her. 
    1. Small Group: Johanna decides to call her two colleagues and practice in front of them. 
    1. Mass Communication: Johanna decides to watch public speakers deliveries online. 
    1. Public Speaking: Johanna decides to improvise, and simply break the ice.

c) Grammar, Syntax, and Mechanics: Ensure your reaction is organized well and free of grammatical and spelling errors.

d) Application: Apply your communication strategies competently.
