Watch the video “TED Talks: Greg McEvilly – The Motivation for Everything”.
In this video, Greg McEvilly discusses the difference between motivation that is driven by fear and motivation that is driven by love. With those concepts in mind, respond to the following, providing evidence to support your ideas: use uploaded PDF text for in-text – page 197 ch8
McEvilly stated that when he carefully analyzed what motivated him in virtually all areas of his life, he concluded that fear was the driving force. Why do you think that fear (his definition: “Being self-centered with little to no regard for others”) is often the default form of motivation that drives decisions for many people?
McEvilly says that when love (his definition: “Being other-person-centered with little to no regard for self”) serves as a core motive for what you do, it must translate into action, or, more specifically, action that helps improve the lives of others. How do you see this motive as being similar or different from that mentioned in Hebrews 10:24: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds”?
The mission statement of McEvilly’s brand, Kammok, is “Equip and inspire for life-changing adventure.” Explain one way that you might be able to deliberately apply that mission statement to your own work or personal life.
