this was my intro to the topic:
“It’s hard to believe that our physician or health provider or even health organization is capable of committing a crime especially because medical careers are known to be pretty lucrative and because we trust them with our lives and our families/ loved one’s life. However, according to the FBI white-collar crimes are the highest priority within the complex financial crime program and these crimes have cost the United States of America tens of billions of dollars each year! these crimes consist of billing for services that were not used, unnecessary treatments or tests, up to coding, and falsifying or exaggerating the severity of medical issues. In February alone there have been many cases related to white crimes such as, an Ohio physician who pleaded guilty on the 21st of this month to illegally distributing opioids and there was another case that happens here in New York the owner of a durable medical equipment company who pleads guilty to a $9 million health care scheme on February 18, 2020. There are many more cases and almost every day the FBI releases a new press release on white-collar crimes”
