The Eric Garner case created a firestorm around the country at least twice. First was the viral video of his uttering his dying words – “I can’t breathe” – as he was manhandled by NYPD officers making a misdemeanor arrest. It again became a sensation when the Trump administration overruled career civil rights prosecutors and refused to bring federal charges against the lead cop. Write 500 words on what happened in Staten Island, correctly identifying the key players (the suspect, the lead officer, the sergeant). Explain how the media portrayed the incident and how social media may have become more dominant. And talk about what happened in the end.
