U.S. MARITIME SURVEILLANCE STRATEGIES AND VULNERABILITIES FOR SEAPORTS OF ENTRY AND COASTAL WATERS
Choose a port and discuss its vulnerabilities and security strategies. Based on your reading and your own research findings, how does CG-2 provide real-time protection of coastal seaways and U.S. seaports? What additional DHS agencies does the CG-2 coordinate with? A critical component to the U.S. Maritime Surveillance Strategies is Coast Guard Intelligence (CG-2); intel personnel is integrated at every level. Coast Guard Intelligence components bring three unique and critical characteristics to the intelligence and law enforcement communities: (1) Maritime Access, (2) Maritime Emphasis, and (3) Maritime Expertise. CG-2 consists of Command headquarters, Counterintelligence Service, Coast Guard Cryptologic Group, Intelligence Coordination Center, and various Field Intelligence centers.
