Many people who are not yet educated on human trafficking as questions, such as “Why don’t trafficked persons just try to escape?” Describe how you would respond to a friend or colleague if they asked this question. Would your response differ if you were talking about labor trafficking vs. sex trafficking?
Second, can you recall any past instances that included possible indicators of labor trafficking that you may have missed at the time? What are the elements of this incident that now lead you to believe it may have been labor trafficking? Knowing what you now know from this class, what will you do in the future if you see something that raises your suspicions?
Third, how should we define “forced” in forced labor? Does it mean people that are physically and mentally obligated to stay in this work, or does it include those that have the power to say no, the power to leave, but have no other options for survival if they do?
