Paper details:
The research paper must be a formal written explication that uses credible scholarly sources to support a thesis. It must consist of a synthesis of key aspects of a topic related to or based on at least one assigned literary text. The Research Paper should contain: • A clear organizational structure, with introductory and concluding paragraphs and body paragraphs that develop the argument • A clear thesis statement • A title for the paper is recommended • A minimum of 5-typed, proofread pages (approximately 1200 words) • A minimum of one primary source • A minimum of three reputable, critical secondary sources, excluding Wikipedia, blogs, and other non-peer reviewed sources. For example, study guides such as, Gradesaver, CliffsNotes, Shmoop and similar resources cannot be used as any of the sources. In addition no “free essay” type website sources are acceptable . • A Works Cited page, formatted in MLA 8th edition style, that lists all works consulted and cited including the primary source(s) • MLA-style parenthetical citations. The Research Paper should adhere to the following: • Typed, 12-point standard font • Standard 1.25 or 1.0 inch margins • Includes surname and page numbers • Includes the student’s name • Includes the student’s section • Includes the instructor’s name • Includes the date • No cover page
