PART I- BACKGROUND, CRIMINAL EVENT, AND VICTIM
A. Background of the Criminal-
Example: age, gender, sex, education level, race, ethnicity, family make-up (ex: single parent home, siblings etc.), friendships, work history, relationship status, Sexual preference, religion, social status, social ties criminal history, social and physical characteristics, etc.
** With respect to the age of your criminal, some categories may not apply to them. Choose and include any categories that you feel will best describe your criminal.
B. Criminal Event Example: Which crime (s) did your criminal commit? In detail, explain how did they commit it? Where? When? What other deviant behaviors were they engaged in?
C. Victim(s)
Example: Who was or were the victim (s)? Relation to suspect if any? Age, gender, race, ethnicity etc. Did the victim make any contributions to the criminal event? Etc.
PART II- SOCIETY, JUSTICE SYSTEM, AND THEORY
A. Justice System
Example: How has the justice system contributed to the criminal, deviant and criminal behavior? How has the justice system interpreted the criminal, deviant and criminal behavior?
B. Society
Example: How has society contributed to the criminal, deviant and criminal behavior?
How has society interpreted the criminal, deviant and criminal behavior?
C. Theory
Example: Theories attempt to explain behavior and social conditions that cause offenders to commit crimes. Using concepts from the theory given to you, explain why your criminal committed the crime they did. What were the social conditions that caused your criminal to offend? You may use one theory, of your choice, to explain your offender’s deviant and criminal behavior.
